The unknown valleys of the Etruscans
This is a tour beyond the beaten path, also beyond the beauties of Cerveteri and Tarquinia. The tour leads you to unknown settlements of the Etruscans, but we also have a closer look at a village which prospered in mediaeval times and did integrate hers with the Etruscan legacy. The special theme of this tour definitely is ‘gorge’ or valley’.

- “There is something wonderful about Vulci”, the great writer D.H. Lawrence said on visiting this indeed incredible site. Imagine the finest Etruscan/ Roman ruins stretched along an impressive gorge of a river over which a tiny stone bridge on Etruscan foundation is spanning. Imagine also chewing Maremma cows on the river side and the ancient street which leads to the harbor. That’s Vulci. We get also a bird eye view of the nearby museum or a visit of a painted tombe (depending saison). In Tuscania, now a very nice medieaval village with city walls, you still can locate the Etruscan acropolis. On top stands a church, the Saint Peter’s, the first church in Italy to be emerged from the Roman Basilica.

- There is a place in Etruria which hardly anybody knows. We will, because at this place (we keep the secret for us) you’ll see a crushing gorge on which both sides the Etruscans 24 centuries ago build their tombs. The site is not easy to find, and you definitely need your walking shoes. Today you certainly feel a bit like being a Etruscan.
- Before going back to Civitavecchia we’ll visit one of the local producers of DOP-certificated olive oil or wine (depending on the season). Degustation and explanation of these nactar from Etruscan times.
